📖 Spreading the Word, Sharing the Light
The CPDV Bible is a modern English translation of the Sacred Scriptures, based on the Latin Vulgate—the traditional Bible of the Roman Catholic Church. It was translated by Ronald L. Conte Jr., with the intent of creating a faithful, clear, and theologically sound version that is free to use and distribute (hence “public domain”).
Key Features:
Catholic Canon: Includes all 73 books recognized by the Catholic Church (including the Deuterocanonical books).
Based on Latin Vulgate: The translation closely follows the Latin Vulgate of St. Jerome, which is a cornerstone of Catholic biblical tradition.
Public Domain: The text is free from copyright, making it suitable for use in study, liturgy, and publication.
Formal Equivalence: Aims for word-for-word accuracy where possible, preserving traditional phrasing and structure.
Accessible Language: Written in contemporary but reverent English, suitable for prayer and meditation.
The CPDV is especially appreciated by those who seek a Catholic Bible that is traditional, faithful to Church teaching, and available without legal restrictions.
